On April 8th, Maundy Thursday, we shall be holding a Sung Eucharist of the Last Supper at 7.30 pm, followed by the Stripping of the Altars. The Watch begins in silence immediately afterwards.
The Good Friday liturgy will be sung at 9.15 am. Please note the earlier time. This will enable members of the congregation to join in the United Walk of Witness, which starts from Holy Apostles at 11 am and stops at various places along the way to a hill above the village. You can join in at any of the stops. The event ends with a bread and cheese lunch in the Baptist Church Hall. Donations at the lunch will go to Christian Aid.
St.Mary’s will be decorated with white and gold flowers on Saturday April 10th from 10 am. If you would like to contribute either flowers or small plants for the Easter Garden please contact Margaret Walker on 525742. The Service of Light that evening begins at 8.30 pm.
On Easter Sunday, April 11th, the Sung Family Eucharist and Procession is at 10 am and incense will be used. This is followed at 11.30 am with a Family Service. Festal Evensong and Procession is at 6.30 pm. Full details of all Easter Services are in the Lent leaflet freely available in church.
The varied Lent offering boxes should be returned to church as soon as possible please.
We are looking for a “handyman” to keep a check on the Parish Centre and to do odd jobs and maintenance. If you have spare time and would like to help the church in this way please call Pat Smith on 262966.
We are arranging Confirmation classes for those who wish to be confirmed by the Bishop at a service in St. Mary’s on Saturday 12th June. Names to the Vicar please who can also give you more details.
The Parish Retreat will be at Cropthorne on the 7—9th May. There is a list for names in the back of the church or ring the Parish Office on 224883 for further details.
